MSE specializes in miniaturized optical sensors with three universal characteristics: minimum size, minimum weight, and minimum power consumption. The sensors have up to 99.9% accuracy and arrive calibrated from the factory (a calibration certificate is included).

Velocity Measurement

The miniLDV™, microV™, and microS™ are the smallest, lightest, and lowest-power-consumption sensors currently available for optical speed measurement. They are ruggedly built and are able to withstand extreme pressures and temperatures and survive harsh environments. All three sensors can measure speed as well as direction, but each is tuned for a specific measurement distance.

Sensor Measurement distance (air) Application
miniLDV 33, 50, 100, 150, 240 mm velocity measurement (surfaces and fluids)
microV 7.4 mm velocity measurement in fluids
microS 75 μm, 135 μm wall shear stress in fluids

Particle Statistics

The miniPCS™ is a particle sizer/counter based on Mie scattering theory. With a forward-scatter design, it is able to measure particle size down to 500 nm diameter. Its small package and built-in acquisition electronics make it especially suitable for field tests.

Facilities

MSE is also proud to offer flowLab™, a table-top-sized water tunnel, perfect for small research projects, expositions, and even classroom demonstrations. Couple with any combination of MSE sensors for a complete experimental solution.
